Free Diving and Scuba Diving in Hawaii
TWO THIRDS OF THE PLANET...
The West side of the Big Island (Kona/North Kohala side) has the clearest water, best scuba diving, best temperature, and water visibility. We don't have a lot of sandy beaches (albeit we do have several famous ones) but this makes for clear water (those pesky sharks blindly feeling their way around looking for food in those murky waters~HEY YOU ARE IN THEIR ENVIRONMENT, THEY'RE NOT IN YOURS).
LIVE ABOARD DIVING~KONA HAWAII STYLE
The Live aboard fleet Kona Aggressor sails the Big Island. The Aggressor fleet is a first class live aboard fleet specializing in diving and underwater photography. The Aggressor Fleet can't be wrong! The typical Aggressor scuba cruise itinerary revolves around one goal, maximum bottom time. Most dive schedules permit four, five, possibly six dives each day with delicious meals and snacks served in between. Here's a sample of a week aboard the Kona Aggressor II:

FREE DIVING IN KONA WATERS
The Big Island supports the sport of free diving. Some the greatest free divers live on the Big Island of Hawaii. We also host the top rank free dive clinics held across the US with Performance Freediving.

Free diving or breath-hold diving is a type of advanced snorkeling and water adventure that allows enthusiastic men, women and youth to experience the sights, sounds and challenges of the most natural of underwater experiences.
Human evolution and development has ingrained us with an underwater potential the same as our marine cousins, whales, seals and dolphins. Without the use of underwater breathing apparatus, free divers on a single breath of air can explore the underwater realm for minutes at a time with relative comfort.
Free diving is about the comfort and exploration of the ocean realm for recreation, spear fishing, competition or personal discovery.
Performance free diving has been around for over 7-years teaching PFI Free diving Programs to over 2000 people from all over the world. Kirk Krack, lead instructor, has trained and set up world record events for many world record athletes such as Brett LeMaster, Tanya Streeter, Martin Stepanek, Karol Meyer, Eric Fattah and Mandy-Rae Cruickshank. PFI instructors Mandy-Rae Cruickshank and Kirk Krack are highly acclaimed world record free divers and/or trainers. Each has an extensive instructional background with instructor trainer level with many scuba diving agencies. All instructional assistants have proven themselves in a rigorous and thorough training program and have the highest level of free diving experience.
