Here are several we strongly support and believe in.

COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL

Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.

Founded by the Rev. Everett Swanson in 1952, Compassion began providing Korean War orphans with food, shelter, education and health care, as well as Christian training.

Today, Compassion helps more than 1 million children in 25 countries.

The Compassion Mission Statement

Releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name

In response to the Great Commission, Compassion International exists as an advocate for children, to release them from their spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enable them to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults.*

The Compassion Commitment

Our commitments to you

We affirm the following historic commitments to each person that sponsors a child through Compassion International:

* We commit to honor Jesus Christ in all that we do. The Great Commission is at the heart of our mission statement, and discipleship is at the core of our program.

* We commit to work in partnership with the local church. Our ministry strengthens the local church through a partnership that reaches out to children and families in their local communities.

* We commit to directly impact each child's individual development. We've seen over and over again that what happens in the life of a child is much more significant than what happens in the environment that surrounds the child.

* We commit to holistic development - developing minds, bodies and spirits. All of our child development programs provide opportunities that encourage healthy development in four areas - spiritual, physical, social and economic.

* We commit to educate and challenge our sponsors about poverty and development. As advocates for children, we will help our sponsors understand the complex issues of poverty and the effects of poverty on children and their development.

* We commit to use money only for the purpose for which it was raised. Child sponsorship funds must be used to develop the children who are sponsored. Our child sponsorship program is completely focused on the development of these children.

* We commit to link each child to only one sponsor. Each Compassion-sponsored child has only one sponsor. We encourage sponsors to develop meaningful relationships of encouragement with the children they sponsor.

* We commit to give every child in our program a chance to respond to the gospel. Every child who participates in a Compassion program is given the opportunity to learn about Jesus and discover how to develop a lifelong relationship with God.

* We commit to the highest industry standards for the use of funds. We'll keep our administrative and fund-raising costs as low as possible, balancing this with the need for quality and integrity through the ministry.

* We commit to being financially accountable. We take our role as stewards of resources very seriously. We regularly perform audits to ensure that our programs are being well managed and that funds are being properly disbursed and applied.

What  Compassion Believes

Compassion International adheres to the statement of faith established by the National Association of Evangelicals:

1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return to power and glory.

4. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

THE BIG ISLAND HUMANE SOCIETY

Animals depend us. It is not their fault they have ended up stray or homeless. It usually comes from human selfishness. We support  those care takers  whole-heartedly.

The mission of the Hawaii Island Humane Society is to promote respect for all animals, prevent cruelty to animals, eliminate pet overpopulation, and enhance the relationship between humans and animals.

SEA SHEPHARD

Whales songs recorded by Leonora Prince Kona Traveler.

Established in 1977, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Our mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.

Sea Shepherd uses innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately-balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations.

SEA SHEPHARD is now featured on Animal Planet WHALE WARS. Having traveled many times to Tonga to see and swim with the magnificent creatures, we know many of these whales we have seen up close and personal with their calves, will never make it back home because they will be killed by the Japanese whale hunters in the name of "research". Research RIGHT!

The Whales' Navy

In Defense of Whales Worldwide

In 1986, the International Whaling Commission (IWC) enacted a moratorium on all commercial whaling. Since then, three nations - Iceland, Norway, and Japan - have brutally slaughtered over 25,000 whales under the guise of scientific research and for commercial purposes. The IWC does not have the capacity to enforce the moratorium. Sea Shepherd, guided by the United Nations World Charter for Nature, is the only organization whose mission is to enforce these international conservation regulations on the high seas.

Highlights from our past three decades include:

Ramming and disabling the notorious pirate whaler, the Sierra Shutting down half of the Spanish whaling fleet documentation of whaling activities in the Faeroe Islands chronicled
in the BBC documentary Black Harvest Scuttling half of the Icelandic whaling fleet and whale processing station
Scuttling half of the Icelandic whaling fleet and whale processing station
Scuttling of the Norwegian whaling vessels Nybraena and Senet Confronting and opposing Japan's illegal whaling in Antarctica

Sea Shepherd has gone on to end the careers of 9 illegal whaling vessels, saving thousands of whales. These campaigns and other Sea Shepherd efforts have kept the issue of whaling in the international spotlight for the past thirty years.

Board of Advisors

The purpose of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's Board of Advisors is to give professional and knowledgeable advice to the organization in individual areas of expertise. Our advisors come from diverse backgrounds and hold varied points of view, not always compatible with each other. We view this as a strength, providing us with a wider spectrum of viewpoints and enabling us to avoid making mistakes in areas of which the Captain and the crew of the ships may not be familiar.
Sea Shepherd Advisory Board members help the organization navigate through the waters they are familiar in. Just as the Captain requires a Pilot to enter an unfamiliar port, our advisors steer us through a sea of facts, statistics, philosophy and tactics in which we may not be knowledgeable.
Sea Shepherd advisors are experts in their fields, ranging from the scientific and technical to the philosophical and tactical. Most importantly, they are people with a wealth of experience in their fields.
All of Sea Shepherd's advisors are supporters of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, although they may not agree with us on every issue or endorse every tactic and strategy we employ. What is important is that they all share a deep concern for protecting and conserving the diversity of life in our oceans.
Sea Shepherd's advisors have no legal responsibility for the actions of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
